Retaining their space age instrumentation, Niels Klein’s Tubes and Wires dial back the quirky on their sophomore outing for a first-rate album of European electric jazz. To listeners of a certain age (i.e., old), post-Canterbury highlight “Backward Happiness” might suggest a peak Softs, Phil Miller or Alan Gowen composition, while the eerie “Perpetual Waves” trades Lost in Space for The Day the Earth Stood Still. Look up or don’t look up; enjoy while there’s still time. Dave Lynch
With excited horns and a rollicking 7-string guitar, it's no wonder this record was nominated for the Best Latin Jazz Album Grammy. Bandcamp New & Notable Dec 14, 2017
